Cori and I were invited to participate in a corporate panel during International Women’s Day in March of 2021. We’d never met, but we instantly bonded. I found her to be bold, honest and forthright, a force to be reckoned with. She makes no excuses for being who she is or what she believes in. She asks no one for permission as she makes her way in the world, her beautiful son in hand. I found that admirable. She also has what I would call a serious sense of humor – it’s intelligent, calculating while being lighthearted.
Cori’s list of loves is extensive as she’s grounded in who she is while still exploring aspects of herself. Chatting with me before the shoot, she mentioned how much she relates to her Mexican heritage and also the whys of some of her loves. These explanations didn’t make it to the video, but she agreed to allow me to share them here.
Being a woman: She used to associate being a woman with being weak, so she would take on masculine mannerisms. She later realized that she din’t have to act manly to be tough, that she could be sensitive, feminine and strong all at the same time.
My Chest and Legs: Cori always felt self-conscious about her chest and legs being much more well-endowed than her cohorts, and attracting unwanted attention. Now that she doesn’t feel as vulnerable, she’s not afraid to call a man out on his behavior and can fully embrace these physical traits as her most feminine.
