My 3+ things:
1. I'm brave.
2. I'm strong.
3. I'm kind hearted.
LJ was my downstairs neighbor. For years, I watched her come and go on her motorcycle, until one day she came home in a wheelchair, wrapped up in a cast. She had slammed into a truck that pulled up in front of her, leaving her body on the road, shattered. I then watched as LJ struggled to get past the endless surgeries, the constant pain and the physical limitations she had to endure in order to regain the fearless independence she once knew.
Recently, as she was moving, I had a chance to chat with her and mentioned the 3+ things project. I thought the experience might help her see that she's still the magnificent being she always was despite the scars, both physical and emotional, the accident left behind. She mentioned she's now going through a divorce and has realized that she lost herself in her relationship and that the project seemed like a great way of starting the journey back to herself. I was so excited that she decided to participate since the objective of 3+ things is to allow women to introspectively acknowledge the beautiful creatures that we are inside and out no matter what.
Something you should know about LJ is that she's a nurse and cares deeply for people, furry and otherwise. And she's an avid boxer who took up the sport as a teenager after watching Rocky for the very first time.
